We think the side rails are newer than the headboards and footboards. The footboards probably need to be taken apart, joints cleaned, and re-glued. Needing re-gluing is a common problem in furniture. It is the best way to hold things together but it will eventually degrade and need replacing over time. We're leaving this up to the buyer because we think you'll want to have these beds refinished as well.
